When I read any book, I scribble my comments / notes in the margins

3p jobs were launched on day
this day 12 years ago (14 NOV.97). Today, we launched our 7th
(free?) job-portal www. Customize Resume.com
Page no. 3
·
After reading this book, about
2 yrs. ago, I even conceptualized a “Resume search” version, which I celled
“long tail”! Read my handwritten note along with u/I for webpage.
·
It was based on finding
resumes contain “rare/scarce” key works
·
We will soon utilize this
concept having built–up a database of over 3 million job-Advt over the last 2
yrs.
Page no. 8
·
With “customizedResume.com, I
am trying to create a “NEW service CATEGORY” And Recruit guru, as a brand is
unknown!
·
Like our imminent closing
down of India Recruiter?
Page no. 9
·
We may well face the same
situation with customize Resume
·
We are pushing the same
ideas!
Page no. 10
·
I am not planning to
print/distribute, print versions of a “customize resume, but we are doing 2
things:
·
A promo email to over 300,000
candidates whose text resume we have uploaded on our A “FREE TRIAL” page
·
Website.
Page no. 11
·
Customize Resume will be my 7th
job portal in 12 yrs.! And I am not ready to give up!
·
After 2 ½ yrs. India
recruiter has not taken off.
·
With 40,000+ unique
“versions” customized resumes too can be disposable.
·
With 40,000 disposable
versions, will job seekers keep trying?
Page no. 13
·
If “customize Resume” manager
to catch the fancy of the jobseekers –and Recruiters and succeed in generating
huge traffic, then we may want to become “Ad-supported”
·
Aul-in our library
Page no. 18
·
Like our “FREE TRIAL” page?
Page no. 22
·
All job portals provide FREE
service to jobseekers but charge corporate subscribers for posting job-Advt
&conducting resume searches. If they can get large no of jobseekers to
“register” paying corporates will follow.
·
Page no. 23
·
“Free resume
Blast” service had this in mind –but for some reason, did not catch-on!
·
Page no.24

corps, Recruiters
Page no. 27
·
e.g. = Naukri’s 20,000 corporate
subscribers are “paying” customers, whereas 10 million jobseekers get “free”
service.
Page no. 29
·
In “job search” & “Resume
search,” we have planned to capture /store/analyses” frequency of usage” of
various search parameters to develop a “recommendation system,” like what we
see on most search engines. (15-11-09).
Page no. 30
·
We will need to cologne these
two starting with Google Ads
Page no. 31
·
I read this just a couple of
months ago.
Page no. 36
·
I read his book “Aims of
Education” some 40 yrs. ago and gave it to another, a few months ago.
·
Anadi (without
beginning)/Anant (without end) Nirakar (without shape) Nirguna (without
property)
·
Nrankar (without distance)
·
Page no. 39
·
We have deployed these principles
in “customize Resume.com” but, by themselves, these may not generate huge
traffic (of strangers?).We have to get the message a cross that 1. We exist 2. We
are FREE.
Page no. 42
·
Even today on cad ell Road
(mahim), same motorists would stop and pay roadside hotels Rs.100 /= to feed 10
poor people sitting on footpath in front of the hotel.
Page no. 43
·
Year I was born.
·
In the days of $5
barista/café coffee day!
·
Most job portals charge a
fat/fix/annual/subscription. I have planned to charge “pay peruse”
·
We tried this in India
Recruiter but still very little traffic!
Page no. 49
·
Does this mean that corporate
Employers who have to pay to Naukari/Times jobs/monster India, a hefty annual
subscription, will turn to customize Resume as an “alternative and free
resource? (16-11-09).
·
But getting “limited” only
Faster.
Page no. 50
·
Even so, in 2009, a billion
people are mal-nourished!!
·
This could be the reason
behind a very high “savings Rate” of Indians (+30%) saving for the rainy day.
Page no. 51
·
Some experts think, someday,
telephone –calls will be free because, if will cost more to “meter”! From
Rs.14/= per minute 10 yrs. ago, mobile chargers are now getting to be Rs.0.60/=
per minute! 1 plaice/second.
Page no. 53

Page no. 56
·
Will making “customize
Resume” free, “devalue” it?
·
If our new site succeeds, it
will be difficult for to “go free.”
Page no. 58
·
I don’t suppose Google Ads
case whether a website is free or not. I suppose it will deliver targeted Advt.
Based on 1. Traffic on each page
·
2.” Search-Terms” used by
visitors.
·
On India recruiter we are
displaying “some of our subscribers” the heavy weights.
Page no. 60
·
Does this mean, our plan to
charge Re.1/= per resume download, should be scrapped? This is an “open ended commitment” on part
of subscriber and might deter him! Even thought, it is somewhat like a
“prepaid” card for mobiles with known liabilities.
Page no. 61
·
Our “free Trial” page is all
about “mass sampling”
·
If we can get enough in come
(to recover costs) from Google Advt that would be fine.
Page no. ‘62
·
Despite “zero” price, India
Recruiter failed to generate traffic after nearly 3years. So what could have
gone wrong?
·
Not enough publicity that we
exist?
·
Very crude/macro level of job
search & resume search?
Page no. 67
·
In our “FREE TRAL” page,
there is no limit to the no. of experiments (trials) that a visitor may conduct I hope this would lead to a large no. of
“trials” by each visitor –continuously pushing up the “counter.” I assume that
a fast charging “counter” itself will impress the visitors and motivate them
for further trials.
Page no. 68
·
I have designed u/I of
“challenge your friends” which works like an online game –while, at the same
time, driving home the concept of “customization”
Page no. 69
·
It is for this reason that I
have asked Rahul to add two page links on homepage viz:
·
My page
·
Customize your resume-now
Page no. 70
·
“Free Trial” to create
confidence, besides “selling” the concept of customization.
·
For “knowing” they many have
used and many are using right now, we are providing “counters that all visitors
can see.
·
For visitors to chat with
each other, we plan to install a “chat Room.”
Page no. 72
·
Perhaps this is what has held
back India Recruiter.
Page no. 80
·
When Rs. 1 lakh NANO care
start rolling out from san and plant in 2011, we will know the effect that
pollution & traffic jams! Many other car-manufacturers will follow. You
cannot hold back future!
·
Can customize Resume do to
the job portal industry what NANO will do to AUTO industry?
Page no. 88
·
In customize Resume.Com; we have
broken up
Page no. 91
·
No “felt” need-hence, no
“pent-up” demand!
·
What “Walkman” did 20 yrs.
ago.
·
I pod I got as a present last
month, stores 8 gab.
·
Will supply of “customize”
resumes, create its own demand? No has asked for “customization”!
Page no. 97
·
What we are aiming to create!
And still give it away free!!
Page no. 99
·
And today I am completing my
50 years of marriage with bharti. Tomorrow I start my 51st year.
(16-11-09).
Page no. 114
·
If customize resume fails to
generate traffic, then Naukri/Times jobs/Monsters India will simply ignore our
existence. But if we manager to get a huge traffic of jobseeker (first) and
recruiters (next), then the incumbents have to resort to 1. Their own customize
version 2. Drop subscription for their corps. Subscribers. (17-11-09).
Page no. 116
·
Habits die hard.
Page no. 119
·
If customize Resume succeeds in
getting a million jobseekers to register, we can analyses that huge database in
a hundred different ways and “map” each candidate along several “Analytics” (17-11-09).
·
We plan this
·
Americans would certainly
consider “customization” as cool
·
But whether Indian Jobseekers
would want this or not, is anybody’s guess!
Page no. 120
·
We are here!! Burt then very
often people don`t even know what they want!
·
They certainly did not “ask
for Walkman or iPod!!
·
At though Customize Resume
has 200,000 “live” job-Advt at any point of time, we have over 3 million “dead”
jobs Advt. We will average this one day.
Page no. 124
·
If customize resume work find
by end of this week, then I plan to issue a PRESS RELEASE on
·
80 + free press Release
websites
·
20 + “ Classifieds
·
20 + e-zine sites
·
100+ social Networking
websites
·
1400 Indian News Paper
·
Our server will send 300,000
emails to candidate whose text resumes we have up loaded
Page

·
Can “customize your own”
page; and “challenge your friends” page
·
Be considered use of another?
May be
·
10 million books will go
online in next few months with 36000 publishers having signed agreement with
Google.

Resume Rating > Raw score>
Percentile score> relative standing>graph generation etc.
·
These are things we are carrying
forward from India Recruiter to “customize.”
·
It is a pity we could not can
forward Recruit Guru.com PASSING SOFTWARE!
·
But we will certainly carry
forward worldwide job`s
·
JAM
·
RAM
·
JAB
·
RAB.
Page no. 127
·
This can happen to job-portals
in India, if customize Resume can offer more job- Advt more resumes, for FREE,
as compared to Naukri etc.
·
JAM/ RAM/ JAB/ RAB. /
Page no. 128
·
What is “Market place
Efficiency” for online recruitment Industry?
·
Candidates finding “Ideal”
jobs the moment these are published (JAB)
·
Recruiters finding “Ideal”
resume, the moment these get posted (RAB)
·
I suppose if few hundred
candidates start using customized resume (Instead of plan text), that could
create a BIG impact amongst recruiters India must have 50+ million English
knowing jobseeker today. Of course, all may not have access to Internet it is a
matter of another 2/3 yrs.
Page no. 130
·
In customize Resume, keywords
will get highlighted. Clicking on any will display Wikipedia definition
·
This may lead to more traffic
& may be some money at a later date
Page no. 131
·
With arrival of cell-phones,
land –line are declining rapidly. Then as “per- minute” charges are truing into
“per-second” charges and even as ARPU of mobile service providers are dropping,
productivity of millions of people shooting up
Page no. 135
·
Like Rock feller gifting the
Chinese 1 million free kerosene lanterns to keep his refineries busy.
Page no. 142
·
I suppose someday, our
“challenge your friends” u/I can become a “Game” that youngsters can “play” on
their smartphones/netbooks/PDA/I pods etc.
·
Especially if it can be
download from our site for FREE when we design this and upload on customize
resume I must ensure that it is “downloadable.”
Page no. 144
·
When candidates conduct job
searches, every job advertiser would like that his job Advt gets listed at the
TOP of the search results (sponsored Ads). We can try this. We are after all,
in an “ONLINE ADVT.
·
Employer advertiser their
“vacancies and candidates advertising their “resume.”
·
We do this.
Page no. 151
·
If “challenge your friends” played
as a “Game” on our website, catches users fancy, we can even get some Advt.
Page no. 153
·
If we start delivering –FREE
– job alert on mobile (JAM) to candidates and also enable them to “Apply
online” directly from their mobiles that should get many jobseekers to
register. The enormous demographic data they supply (during registration) can
he turned in to Analytics and can be SOLD to recruiters, e.g. RAM Resume Alert
on mobile.
Page no. 156
·
Can FREE TRIAL become such a
memorable experience?
Page no. 157
·
In “challenge your friends,”
I have provided for the outcome to be emailed to friends (-how else can you
challenge them to match your skills).
Page no. 161
·
Bill gates is very rich and
very well –known I always wondered why be did not allow people to download for
FREE, his book “Business the speed of Thought.”
Page no. 173
·
If we can manage to get
millions of jobseeker to register, then, we can make true “Apple for Apple”
·
Comparison amongst “co- professionals”
belonging to same Industry/Function /Edu.Quali/Age/Exp. Etc.
·
That might prompt more
jobseekers to register just to find out where does he stand vis–a-vis his
·
Co-professionals. We might get
a Network Effect. (19-11-09)
·
In “challenge Your Friends”
there is Provision for exchanging graphs.
·
Once a person has register he
might want to keep coming back (lock-in) to see his NEW percentile score.
Page no. 176
·
What most job-portals charge
Employers sometimes with some “upper limit” of daily usage?
Page no. 177
·
Like my (Reliance) internet
connection with “unlimited” download for a monthly Rs. 799/=
·
This is why “pay-per–use
“(per resume downloaded), may keep corporates away –deterministic liability.

No doubt a resume submitted
by a jobseeker or a job advt. posted by a Recruiter is “User Generated”
content. Both parties create it with the express purpose of “getting attention”
if would be great if the same content can also get them “reputation.” Hopefully
customized Resume is the first step in that direction. (22-11-09).
·
Is this why I launched 7th
job portal? No doubt about it.
·
I am counting on “challenge
Your Friends” to tap this “energy and knowledge.” May be “EGO” will play a big
part. Someday, I hope we can modify this feature and turn it into a “GAME”
(online multiplayer) where a jobseeker can “Invite” his friends to join.

·
May be 5 years back, I prepared
a note, suggesting that we get India Recruiter. net to preserve a “screen-shot”
of a candidate`s PROFILE, as it looks on 1st of each month. If done,
candidates would be curious to see how their profile changed over a period of
3/4/10 years. They will return to find out this kind of photos of a child
(taken once-a- month) over years of growing –up (till may be death?). Complete
archive. It will cost very little to store.
·
My father did not phone me

I have already shutdown:

Global Recruiter.net

Recruit Guru.com
·
And about to shut down

India Recruiter.net that would leave

3p consultants.co.in
·
Strategic HR.co.in
·
Customize Resume.com
·
This will also apply to
websites
·
My 7th job portal
is an example.

One of the slogans that I coined for customize Resume
·
We invite other job-portal to
copy us.
Page no. 205
·
We want customize Resume for
every jobseeker not just a few (senior Executive?). We do not want it to have a
“designer my stinger” I would rather have it reach every user who wants it.
·
Copying our graph generation
software is not difficult at all for any portal willing to spend a few lakhs of
Rupees in a few months. But none would want to give up (abandon) their existing
model (Text Resume) in favors of an “untried” model. We would face competitive
threat only if –and when –we become a runaway success.
Page no. 225
·
Some 20/30 daily visitors of
India Recruiter, spend an average of ¾ minutes per visit. Once we promote
customize Resume Google Analytics will tell us
·
How many visit
·
How much time do they spend
·
We plan to start promo emails
on Friday we may have an early indication next week. (24-04-09: Tues).
Page no. 227
·
Without our being able to
(legitimately) obtain daily 2000/3000 job –Advt (thru their official RSS feed),
·
We could not offer 200,000 Advt
for job search by jobseekers. And without these 200,000 Advt, even customizing
of resumes, could not attract jobseekers to register I the first place! What
good would a customized resume be without a job to apply for?
Page no. 231
·
Service to jobseekers on all
job portals is FREE.so we had to follow this “Industry – practice” just to
“match” so we invented graphical analytics (India Recruiter) and now
customization (customize resume) in order to offer something better and different.
·
No job portal is offering
“Graphs/customization” which makes it a “scarcity.”
Page no. 238
·
If customize resume brings in
1 million job seekers (FREE) then we can afford to change a subscription to corps.
Advertisers
Page no. 240
·
If corporate recruiters “Love” customized resumes, (i.e.
they find these are more meaningful and much easier to grasp/interpret), then
they would be willing to pay a fixed subscription-which they are used to pay to
Naukri/monster/Times jobs etc.
·
But, I realize that they (recruiters) are NOT going to go
out of their way and “ask/insist” on customized resumes. But, those jobseekers,
which do send-out customized resumes, discover that these (resumes) are getting
them more interview calls, and then they may spread the word. We don`t know,
how things will shape-up we but we must keep experimenting. (24-11-09).
Page no. 242
·
Profile (Graphs) can
certainly “save time” of recruiters. They can interpret profiles without having
to “read/decipher” data from a TEXT resume. Our rating (raw score) can also
help him quickly reject candidates having low raw score that lowers risk.
Page no. 243
·
This is one more reason why
we should keep away from “pay-per click” (Re1/= resume downloaded)
·
Which I originally planned.
Then again, advantage to recruiters of a FLAT monthly subscription is that
their liability is per- determined.
Page no. 248
·
We kept India recruiter
“free” even for recruiters for last 2 ¾ years (since Inception). Now we need to
repeat this with customize Resume as well.
Page no. 249
·
In job portal business;
·
Recruiters are “Buyers” (of
services offered by candidate)
·
Candidate are ”sellers”
·
In customize resume, at first
I am trying to build-up a “critical mass” of “sellers (candidates) by offering
they FREE customization. I am presuming that, they have nothing to lose and
everything to gain, by customizing their resumes. At worst, customized resume,
may not bring them anymore interview –calls, but, at be, they get many calls!
Being free, they have nothing to lose to experiment.
·
If a “critical mass” of
candidates do build-up, bringing in of “buyers (Recruiters), will not pose any
problem. (24-11-09).
