THE ART AND TECHNOLOGY SOFTWARE ENGINEERING A MOSAIC OF MODELS AND METHODS- RAMKUMAR RAMASWAMY

====================================================================================

When I read any book, I scribble my comments / notes in the margins

These reflect my views / opinions about what the author is saying – including my disagreement

Often, my comments are in the nature of telling myself :

Hey ! We should try out this idea in our own business ( Head-hunting / Online Recruitment )

Following are my comments re :

·         We are trying to achieve this, thru our project JAWS/Manhattan/lock.in etc.

·         In our case, our “goods”– are “Resumes,” which need not be physically transported. These can be emailed

·         Corporates who wish to “buy” the resumes.

Page no. 9

·         Sure But has do you anticipate what your competitor will do?

Page no. 12

·         Since we expect jobseekers to login during day time, we would have a lot of incoming traffic (“Apply online”) during day. So we may plan “job Alerts” & Resume forwarding service day. So night “JAWS”

·         Broadcast could be scheduled between 6 pm to midnight.

Page no. 18

·         OES

·         Falls in this category.

Page no. 19

·         In due course our franchisees in difficulties, accessing our mobile 1& OES which are “central.”

Page no. 21

·         Somewhat like” History of shopping carts”/ History of job Alerts/History of candidate Alerts

·         Business Vs. systems Analyst?

·         Analyst

Page no. 25

·         Refining his understanding again & again.

Page no. 27

·         They always do.

·         In my notes of v4.0 (website), low priority applications should take <2/3 days

·         Medium                                                                       <10 days.

·         High                                                                               < 20 days.

Page no. 28

·         Most of my “low priori by” item fall into this category on the other hard my views have undergone a lot of change (requirements) since I first wrote my notes on “JAWS” & “LOCK In,” 18 months ago!

·         (24-10-02).

Page no. 33

·         Our most important data base are  - resumes – job Advt

·         Would Module 1 developed by vexed fall in this category? & OES?

Page no. 41

·         In our case these are mainly: jobseekers & Recruiters but then there are also – HR Managers parent’s students etc.

·         Very true

·         Like our sections for “jobseekers”/”Recruiters/ Alliances”/ HR Mgrs. /parents. etc. (all boxed in).

Pane no. 42

·         Like “member search” screen which was demon started today by Rajeev (25-10-02).

Page no. 43

·         A user should be able to reach his destination data, with 2/3 clicks .No more.

·         On our website, resumes could be searched in 3 different ways.

·         E.g.: most recruiter may want to recruit executives from the “posting city” itself become they know Indians are not much mobile. So a city based resume – search is user- friendly.

Page no. 44

·         E.g.: for Executive search, corporate India’s first choice.

Page no. 45

·         E.g.: A Recruiter can also be a jobseeker & vice versa

·         Side bar links to jump or to quit.

Page no. 46

·         For Executive search, corporate India`s first choice.

Page no. 47

·         Ask 100 recruitment managers, what they think about our homepage. Do they have problem searching for what they are looking.(Navigation-each)

·         Jobseeker vs. HR Mgrs. Vs. students etc.

·         Like seeking “salary data on post job Advt” page it is very relevant.

·         I have not seen this diagram so far. (25-10-02).

Page no. 48

·         This is good idea.

·         Like watching a Recruitment manager conduct a resume search on our site can he do this                                           easily at the very first attempt? OR does he have he have to “lean “(the easiest way), by “Trial & Error?”

Page no. 49

·         Tasks are:

·         Submit Resume                                post a job Advt

·         Search jobs                      Search Resumes

Page no. 51

·         We have done this

Page no.53

·         We should do this.

Page no. 55

·         No. of mouse clicks.

Page no. 63

·         Is like posting a resume or posting a job Advt? In a speaking, both are up for “sale”!

Page no. 64

·         Like a socket where you can plug in a tube light or a lamp (bulb)?

Page no. 85

·         Read ankit Fadia`s book “Ethical Hacking –written when he was 14 years old!

·         Article in today’s Eco. Times (27-10-02).

Page no. 89

·         For us authentication will become a crucial issue when employers & franchisees & remote- working employees & Experts working from homes, all have to access our network, from physically separated locations.

Page no. 90

·         We would not need credit card numbers unless, someday, we start “selling” resumes online.

Page no. 91

·         This is future scenario

·         This is our main concern.

Page no.92

·         I presume all of our applications are “centralized”

Page no. 96

·         Lowest level?

Page no. 97

·         They are.

Page no. 98

·         Our own staff (Authorize)

·         Our own staff (unauthorized)

1.       Consultants operating from their homes

2.       Interview Experts (from homes)

3.       Franchisees

4.       Content providers (Inputting contant)

5.        competitors

6.       Data base vendors

7.       Tale- marketers

8.       Resigned Employees.

Page no. 101

·         Freeze any one Axis then create a matrix of the other 2 axis.

Page no. 103

·         Abhi – let us evaluate “ASTARO” using such “security Analysis space” (3- dimensioned box)

·         Such as ASTARO vs. sonic-WALL.

Page no. 119

·         Vikram sunitha you may want to read this book (02-11-02).

Page no. 122

·         On our website, we would like to give higher priority to online Recruiters –as compared to

·         “Jobseekers” so anyone clicking on any “Recruiter section” link, gets served first.
